first_imgCOMMONWEALTH Games selectee Mahendra Persaud has departed the shores of Guyana to participate in the annual Imperial Shoot at Bisley, England. His participation in the Imperial Championship, termed the mecca of shooting in the world, was made possible through the Guyana Olympic Association. The Championship is billed to run from July 7 to 22.The finals for the HM Queen’s Prize will see the final hundred shooters compete for the trophy, from a starting number of over one thousand.Mr Lennox Braithwaite, our other Commonwealth Games selectee, was unable to obtain his British visa in time to travel. He, however, along with Persaud will be attending the Canadian National Championship in August, followed by the Australian National Championship in October, immediately following the West Indies Championship being held in Guyana. The Championship in Australia will be held at the very range the Commonwealth Games shooting will take place. This will enable the shooters to acquaint themselves with the conditions of the range and to gauge their preparation so far with the other selectees who will all be attending the Championship.last_img read more

Mahle (R)$3800$2600$11UPGRADE 3B: Rafael Devers, Red Sox vs. White Sox. Devers is finally having his breakout campaign, and he’s mostly done it against righthanded pitching, which is what he will face against Carson Fulmer and the White Sox tonight. All but two of his 12s HR have come vs. RHPs, and he has a .390 wOBA off of them, as well. He’s pricey, but there’s a reason why, as Boston paces the slate at 6.36 implied runs.OF: Nomar Mazara, Rangers @ Tigers. Mazara has three straight multi-hit games and four in his past five while notching hits in six-of-seven. He’s trying to continue his streak against Jordan Zimmermann, who’s bee especially bad against lefties (.390 wOBA and .910 OPS).For more player recommendations and analysis, become a Fantasy Alarm subscriber today!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Pos PlayerMatchupOpp. SPDKFDY! Allen (L)$3400$2500$9UPGRADE Today’s MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings, FanDuel advice for Tuesday, June 25SP: Blake Snell, Rays @ Twins. So, the good thing is, this is probably the coldest the Twins offense has been all season. Over the past seven days, the team has put together an 89 wRC+, which ranks 23rd. The issue is Snell has failed to make it past the fifth inning in three of his previous four starts. I refuse to believe this is going to be the version of Snell we’re going to get for the rest of the year. He’s nothing but a GPP play, but it could be a fruitful play at that.C: Travis d’Arnaud, Rays @ Twins. If he continues to lead off, I’ll continue to have interest. He’s priced really nicely across the industry, and considering TB is on the road, they’re guaranteed ninth-inning at-bats, which is ideal.MORE TUESDAY MLB: SP rankings | Fantasy Alarm PRO tools1B: Trey Mancini, Orioles vs. Padres. Logan Allen may be a top-100 prospect who showed out in his first professional start, but pitching in San Diego and pitching in Baltimore are the polar opposite to one another. This game has a massive 10.5 implied run total, and righthanded swingers gave Allen issues at Triple-A. Mancini is rolling at the dish, slashing .353/.450/.765 over his past 10 games, and has a .415 wOBA vs. LHPs this year.2B: Ketel Marte, Diamondbacks vs. Dodgers. The pace he’s on is unsustainable, but Marte has a seven-game multi-hit streak in which he’s gone 19-for-29 with three home runs, three doubles and a triple, and he’s even chipped in with a stolen base. Ross Stripling is going to be limited and won’t pitch too deep into this game, so Marte will get a couple at-bats against an average Dodgers ‘pen.SS: J.P. Crawford, Mariners @ Brewers. I don’t love his price on DK, but on FD it’s quite enticing. Crawford has been on fire slashing .333/.426/.487 over his past 10 games. Davies has had a pretty good campaign, but lefties have given him problems, as they’ve notched an .860 OPS and .372 wOBA against him. 3BM. Machado (R)[email protected] 7:05J. Henry Hudson Trail Segment To Undergo Renovations

first_imgA popular segment of the Henry Hudson Trail in Atlantic Highlands that suffered serious damage due to flooding in Super Storm Sandy in 2012 is to undergo repairs to make it more resilient in the future. The path is used by pedestrians and bikers. Photo: Joseph SapiaBy Joseph SapiaATLANTIC HIGHLANDS – The portion of the Henry Hudson Trail in Atlantic Highlands that was destroyed by 2012’s Super Storm Sandy storm surge should be fully reconstructed with a more sustainable design by the end of the year.Since the storm, the scenic 1-¼ mile walking, bicycling, and equestrian trail from Popamora Point at the Atlantic Highlands/Highlands border to Atlantic Highlands marina has remained open, but in what the park system describes as the “primitive condition” of compacted soil. The 14-foot high storm surge had eroded the toe of the bluff making passage difficult or even hazardous in some conditions. It washed away trail surfacing and decimated the wooden boardwalks, said Joseph Sardonia, supervising landscape architect for the Monmouth County Park System. “It was like toothpicks,” Sardonia said. “It was amazing.”The project is estimated to cost about $900,000 to $1 million. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will reimburse the Park System 80 percent of the cost, and the county and borough will split the remaining 20 percent, according to the Park System. Two women walk along the Henry Hudson Trail on the Highlands-Atlantic Highlands boundary. The trail is open, but the Monmouth County Park System considers its compacted dirt state as “primitive.” Photo: Joseph SapiaThe improvements to help the trail survive occasional flooding and storm surges include: diverting runoff to Sandy Hook Bay under the trail to protect against erosion, resurfacing the trail using both pavement and stone dust and rebuilding the walkway with prefabricated concrete, Sardonia said. The Monmouth County Board of Recreation Commissioners hopes to award a contract to successful bidders in July, see work start after Labor Day and complete the project by the end of 2016.Trails will be closed to visitors during renovations, according to the Park System.Leo Cervantes, 46, who lives in Highlands and walks the affected part of the trail once or twice a week if he has time, looks forward to improving the trail.“I guess, if they do it the right way, it’ll last longer,” said Cervantes, who owns Chilangos Restaurant in Highlands.Catalina Giraldo, 30, of Highlands was walking the trail on a recent day with Cervantes and Julian Gaviria, 26, who was visiting from Colombia. Giraldo called the county project “positive.”It was Gaviria’s first time on the trail.“We woke up this morning, ‘Come on, Julian,’ because Cati and I walk it,” Cervantes said. The Henry Hudson Trail, which follows a combination of roads and unused railroad right-of-ways, travels from Sandy Hook to Freehold for about 28 miles. From Sandy Hook to Aberdeen, the trail also is known as the Bayshore Trail. The county hopes to extend the trail another 7-1/2 miles to Farmingdale. From Farmingdale, it could connect with the Edgar E. Felix Trail to Manasquan.last_img read more
