QPR managed to frustrate their opponents during the first half at St James’ Park.Rangers, with Fabio, Anton Ferdinand and Esteban Granero brought into the starting line-up, have so far spent much of the game soaking up pressure.Numerous clearances from the ever-dependable Ryan Nelsen helped keep Newcastle at bay.And Fabio’s well-timed challenge denied Papiss Cisse as the Magpies striker bore down on goal.QPR: Green, Ferdinand, Nelsen, Hill, Fabio, Mbia, Faurlin, Granero, Mackie, Taarabt, Cisse.Subs: Murphy, Diakite, Traore, Derry, Wright-Phillips, Onuoha, Hoilett.Click here for our Newcastle v QPR quiz 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 Follow West London Sport on TwitterFind us on Facebook

Four members of Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba(LeT) have sneaked into Mumbai recently to carry out “violent” attacks with the aim of causing “destruction”, police said on Thursday night.Police also released the photograph of one of them and issued an advisory to the citizens of this metropolis to remain alert.”The four were identified as Abdul Kareem Moosa, Noor Abu Ilahi, Walid Jinnah and Mahfooz Alam. The four recently sneaked into the city to carry out extremely dangerous activity,” Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) Himanshu Roy told a news conference. Roy also released a sketch of Jinnah. The strikes were being planned in connection with possibly the upcoming Christmas and New Year’s festivities, he added.Roy said he had no information on the nationalities of the four persons. On Tuesday, the Centre had sounded a terror alert for Mumbai and Ahmedabad following specific Intelligence inputs that the LeT teams may have entered the two western cities to carry out strikes. The four persons are in the age group of 20 to 30 years, Roy said.”The four persons are planning violent attacks that is going to cause destruction,” the JPC (Crime) warned. The information of the plans by the terrorists are “fairly specific”, he said, adding “We believe the threat is serious.”Roy also said Mumbai Police has formed Special cells in a bid to “neutralise” the four terrorists. He did not want to speculate whether more than four LeT men have entered the metropolis which witnessed the country’s worst ever terror strike in November 2008 killing 166 people.advertisementThe police have set up dedicated phone number — 022-22633333 — to enable the people pass on information about the militants and in the event of an emergency.”Citizens can call up at the dedicated number or at 100, if they spot the one whose photo was released,” Roy said.In September, police released photographs of two suspected foreign terror suspects–a clean-shaven Kalimuddin Khan alias Rameshwar Pandit (28) and bearded Hafij Khijir Ulla Sarif (25) sporting a skull cap–on the eve of Eid and Ganeshotsav festivities. But the duo could not be traced.A Crime Branch source said that Kalimuddin was a Pakistani and Sarif was from Bangladesh and both were suspected to be members of terror outfit HuJI.Police were taking utmost precautions and massive deployment of police have been made at all sensitive locations, worship places and crowded places to ensure safety of the citizens, Roy said.Several police teams have been formed to track the four who are believed in aged between 20 to 30 years, police sources said.”On the eve of Ganesh festival, we had released the photographs of two terror suspects and alerted the citizens. The ten-days of the festival went off peacefully. Now also we feel that the citizens will remain and help us in all possible way and we hope everything goes fine,” Roy said.Asked if it was the same input given by Central agencies two days back, Roy said, “We are not in a position to reveal our sources.”Asked if security agencies lost track of the four due to which they had to issue advisory and release the photo, Roy replied, “We have not lost their track. But we want to keep the citizens alert as well.” He refused to divulge as to how the LeT men entered the city.Security forces launched “house-to-house” searches in some specific areas in Mumbai, sources said.A three dimensional security apparatus– land, air and water — has been put in place, particularly around the Taj Mahal Hotel, one of the sites of the 26/11 carnage.Roads near the iconic Taj remained closed from today for 15 days and the area is under complete surveillance.Similar security arrangement was in place near Taj during the visit of US President Barack Obama, who stayed in the plush hotel, in early November.Parking on the roads around Taj has been banned for the same period and the cars of guests of Taj and residents around the hotel would be allowed but only after thorough checking. The residents would be soon provided with security stickers for their cars to avoid inconvenience.Colaba area, particularly the places, including the Gateway of India, where large crowds are expected during the festivities, would be under complete surveillance through high resolution CCTVs.The sea-front up to five nautical miles was being guarded round the clock by police armed with advanced boats and sophisticated equipment, police said.Police are also co-ordinating with Navy and Coast Guard officials who are conducting air surveillance.
Five days with rain and numerous event cancellations due to weather conditions reduced the total attendance at the 2019 Clay County Fair in Spencer, but officials say a lot of loyal fair goers still came out between September 7th through the 15th.Fair Manager Jeremy Parsons says overall Fair attendance totaled 296,998, down roughly 4 percent from 2018’s number of 308,603.The cancellation of the Foreigner concert on September 7th because of muddy and wet conditions contributed to the decline.Fair goer spending on food, concessions, and carnival rides was down around 2 and a half percent from 2018, but when the weather cooperated, their spending set three single-day records for September 10th,13th and the 15th.Parsons says inclement weather is always the number one factor that affects attendance.

Touch Football in Australia is going from strength to strength on the back of its partnership with the National Rugby League. The alliance between Touch Football Australia and the NRL occurred in late 2013 and since then the profile of Touch Football has increased dramatically. So much so that a Mixed Touch Football All Stars series like that of the Rugby League will take place on Saturday. The Indigenous Touch All Stars will take on the TFA All Stars at Suncorp Stadium in a two-match series on Saturday, with the latter to be played just prior to the kick-off of the Harvey Norman NRL All Stars fixture. A match will also be played on Friday afternoon to make it a three-match series. Events like Saturday, accompanied with high profile sponsors such as Harvey Norman, are giving the sport the exposure it needs. This exposure is turning into high participation levels and an increasing supporter base. Pathways are now there for talented men and women to turn their Touch Football skills into a career with the NRL.Touch Football requires agility, fitness and speed – all of which are important components of rugby league and NRL clubs are on the lookout for the next fleet-footed superstar.Four-time Touch Football World Cup winner and TFA All Stars representative, Kylie Hilder, says the partnership between the two codes has done wonders for the profile of Touch Football in Australia. “I’ve been in the game a long time and it’s only been since the NRL has come on board with the alliance that Touch Football has just gone through the roof,†Hilder said. “I think people are just starting to realise that Touch Football is not just a game that people might play as a warm up or and off-season game to rugby league. “You need to have skill and be an athlete to play Touch Football at a high level. “I really like the fact that the NRL clubs are starting to realise that this partnership is bringing more people to their game as well. Many rugby league players started their sporting journey in the sport of Touch Football. Both Australian international Scott Prince and New Zealand international Shaun Johnson started their careers stepping around defenders in Touch Football competitions. Prince, now retired from rugby league, has returned to Touch Football. A participant in the Indigenous All Stars Touch Football team last year, Prince is now a mentor for the 2016 team.He says the partnership has created opportunities for both men and women to create a career doing what they love. “It’s massive. It raises the profile of Touch Football,†said Prince. “The NRL has some fantastic supporters and sponsors of it. It’s been great to see Harvey Norman jump on board with a Touch sponsorship throughout all the platforms. Through the national leagues, the World Cup and now the All Stars week. “I think even the fact that the number of pathways that this partnership creates is something special. Whether it’s through the women that move onto rugby league. The boys can push on from Touch and go into the rugby league. “It’s an opportunity for players like me who have retired from rugby league who still think they can contribute without the full on conflict and training. That is what makes this partnership so perfect.â€Related LinksNRL All Stars
“Here’s what I believe in the whole waiver process: the number one, most important thing, and all the power, comes from the school that a kid is leaving. No matter what,” Fickell told The Athletic. “(Michigan) didn’t back the waiver. They can say what they want to say, but the only thing they said that was positive was that if the NCAA chooses to make (Hudson) eligible, then they would accept it — that they didn’t have an angle. They are just trying to cover their ass. And I’m really, completely disappointed in it.“They can say they didn’t undermine it, but they didn’t work to help the kid out.”Harbaugh responded to that criticism earlier this week, saying Fickell doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He alleged that Fickell tried to get Harbaugh to tell the NCAA that things were worse with Hudson than they really were.“Coach Fickell tried to coach me on how to say it differently,” he said on Tuesday night. “Not saying it in that way. I told him, ‘I’m not gonna lie.’”Fickell has since responded to those allegations, speaking to the media after practice.Fickell on the spring phone call with Harbaugh: “It was kind of cold. It was short. It wasn’t a long conversation. It wasn’t hard to figure out what their stance was. They supposedly weren’t going to hold (James Hudson’s waiver) up, but they weren’t going to help him.”— Fletcher Page (@FletcherPage) August 15, 2019More on the phone call: “I’ve got notes if you want them. Nothing more than asking, ‘hey, what’s your stance on James? Are you going to help the kid?'”— Fletcher Page (@FletcherPage) August 15, 2019″… Just like I called coach Day at Ohio State and Coach Saban at Alabama. I did nothing different than what I did with those guys and the results are different.”— Fletcher Page (@FletcherPage) August 15, 2019Fickell, a former Ohio State player and assistant coach, is no longer an official rival of Michigan, though he’s clearly helping one develop at Cincinnati. Michigan won 42-7. (Photo by Corey Perrine/Getty Images)Cincinnati head coach Luke Fickell and Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh continue to trade barbs over the James Hudson transfer waiver saga.Hudson, a former Wolverines player, transferred into the Bearcats’ program, and hoped to get a waiver to play right away from the NCAA, citing mental health reasons. The NCAA denied Hudson’s waiver this spring, saying that Cincinnati was more than 100 miles from his hometown, while stating that he had no record of mental health issues at Michigan. The NCAA has since denied another appeal from Hudson, making him ineligible until 2020.Fickell has blamed Harbaugh for essentially blocking Hudson’s waiver.
Traditionally, I’m not a big believer in portable headphone amplifiers. They’re often bulkier and heavier than a smartphone. And besides, if you’re going to stuff yet another gadget into your overflowing pockets, why not make it a hi-res portable audio player so you can let your phone rest and, you know, actually play hi-res audio files? However, in very short order, Shure’s luxurious new SHA900 — which begs the kingly price of $1,000 — took me to church. In fact, Shure’s going to have a very hard time getting this thing back from me. Seriously. One quick connection to this sterling hunk of glittering aluminum turned virtually every audio file I auditioned into a brilliantly-sculpted eruption of sonic bliss. It’s true that, no matter what kind of hi-fi weaponry you’ve got, the highly-compressed audio of MP3s (and their streaming equivalents from Spotify and Apple Music) will never sound as the studio artists intended. That’s just science. But in today’s streaming culture, the simple fact is that many of us spend a lot of time with compressed tracks. And that’s where devices like Shure’s SHA900 can really pay off.All music files — even when heavily compressed — sound exponentially better through a world-class amplifier and DAC (digital-to-analog converter). So, whether you’re sourcing hi-res tracks from your PC, or humming through your Discover Weekly Spotify playlist, Shure’s SHA900 gives everything you cue up a serious promotion. Add in a sleek design and a small profile, and this amp could be an audiophile’s new best friend. The GoodsThe SHA900’s exterior casing is a luxurious mix of aluminum and chrome. The shiny volume knob at the left moves opposite to expectation, as the device is designed to strap behind your phone, and two rubberized pads at the back add some scratch protection. The knob pulls double duty as a command switch, unearthing a customizable 4-band EQ and limiter with a double click, while the power key doubles as a back button for navigation. There’s also a hold switch to keep from butt-dialing settings.Inputs include both a 3.5mm analog jack as well as a micro-USB digital input which also doubles as a charging port. The simple setup allows the unit to easily source both digital and analog audio and work as a portable amp for any smartphone, as well as doubling as a sound card for your computer.Related: Change the way you hear with these amazing wireless budsPerformanceIn order to better gauge just how much music was improved, we auditioned the amp principally through mainstays of our daily listening habits, including our go-to hi-fi headphones, the Audeze EL-8, as well as a collection of tracks with which we are intimately familia. That includes old standbys like Depeche Mode’s Violator, Radiohead’s entire catalog, and tracks from more acoustic-based bands like Nickel Creek, Bela Fleck, and Ray LaMontagne.Every stick click, every bow of a string, and every flick of the piano keys gets a better ride through the SHA900. The amp’s unabashed instrumental separation seems to burrow out extra space for every track in the recording, while adding echo-y trails of expansion to the overall dynamic expression of the music — even when heavily compressed. And while users will immediately notice improved bass response, that doesn’t mean a heavy-handed approach — the amp renders most tracks with near-perfect balance, including firm and supportive bass, making the comprehensive EQ more luxury than necessity. While weakly-produced MP3 tracks are stripped down to their root imperfections, the good far outweighs the bad when it comes to sound reproduction — especially notable in more complex songs. Depeche Mode’s Policy of Truth, for instance, sounded as if each and every synth tone was sculpted and polished to reveal a deeper dimension of depth and definition. The little satellite nodes that float across the stereo image towards the end of the tune seemed to be constructed into completely autonomous entities, popping out from the aural bedrock like celestial bodies floating through the ether.Shadowy reverb tracks from vocals cut brilliantly in the far side of the image, effortlessly revealed through the stark clarity of the production while leaving plenty of space for each and every word to ring clearly in the primary vocal. And the hallmark of any improved hi-fi experience — hearing things that weren’t previously revealed — occurred early and often. Did you know the echo of the guitar in the chorus of Coldplay’s Don’t Panic gets a little off-rhythm? Neither did we until we cued it up with the SHA900.ConclusionThere’s no doubt that most listeners won’t appreciate the luxury of a portable amp to spend $1000 on one, let alone possess the will to tote around a little silver box all the time. But for serious music lovers — whether you’re a hi-res purest, or a plain-jane Spotify addict — the SHA900 is a thrill to experience.A version of this post first appeared on our “brother site” Digital Trends.
